Regular wellness exams allow us to catch underlying health problems early, provide consistent preventative care, and support your pet’s overall health and well-being.
It's hard to provide care without knowing the root of what is ailing your pet, which is why diagnostic testing is so important. Diagnostic testing can include laboratory testing (blood, urine, and fecal) and diagnostic imaging like X–rays, CT, MRI, and ultrasound.
From routine cleanings to tooth extractions, the Thrive Pet Healthcare network of Primary Care veterinarians and Dental Specialists is here to keep your pet's smile fresh! Our general practices can take care of everyday dental maintenance with outstanding regular check-ins, cleanings, and basic surgeries.
Meanwhile, our specialty veterinarians are prepared to handle more complex or chronic dental cases like a root abscess, jaw fracture, abnormal tooth formation, or advanced periodontal disease. These doctors are highly trained within the field of veterinary dentistry and have access to specialized equipment, typically unavailable at primary care clinics.
Fleas can cause itchy skin, skin infections, and spread tapeworms. Ticks can carry disease such as Lyme Disease, Ehrlichiosis, and more.
Another key component of helping to maintain your pet’s health and happiness is having them on reliable, consistent heartworm preventative.
Heartworm disease is serious and potentially fatal to our dogs and cats. Heartworms are spread by mosquito bites and can grow up to a foot long, living in the heart and lungs of our beloved pets.
The occasional taps, scrapes, and scratches that happen when playing with your pet means it's time for a trip to your local veterinarian or boarding facility! Trimming your pet's nails is a healthy part of their life, and can lead to greater comfort in everyday activity.
Our veterinarians are skilled in diagnosing common problems that affect our pets like vomiting, itching, lumps, limping, and more.
Unless you intend to breed, we recommend having pets spayed or neutered. Pets that have been spayed or neutered tend to live longer and have healthier lives.
Vaccines are essential for preventive care and can increase the chances of a longer, happier life for pets. Ensuring that pets are consistently up to date with their vaccinations can help prevent contracting disease or help lessen the severity of symptoms if a disease is contracted.
We will be by your side during this time of need to offer both medical assistance and emotional support.
Acupuncture has been used in human medicine for over 5,000 years and in animals for over 3,000 years. Properly administered by our highly trained veterinarians, acupuncture is one of the safest forms of medical treatment for pets suffering from a wide range of conditions.
This treatment allows a pet’s bloodstream to become saturated with more oxygen and can promote faster healing. The increased pressure in the chamber also helps to decrease inflammation. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is useful for a wide variety of cases such as wounds, abscesses, fractures, pancreatitis, Immune diseases, post operative ileus, and more.
During the procedure, the pet is placed in a comfortably sized oxygen chamber where the oxygen levels are increased to 100% (room air is 21%) and the air is pressurized. When the pet breathes in high oxygen and high-pressure air, it flows into the pet’s low oxygen, low pressure blood stream. This high oxygen blood is now in the pet to promote healing, fight infection, and inflammation. Pets will often feel calm and relaxed while in the oxygen chamber and many take naps throughout their treatment. Treatments typically last one to two hours.

The founder, Dr. Diane Monsein Levitan has over 20 years of veterinary medical experience. She has received worldwide recognition as founder and first owner of the Center for Specialized Veterinary Care and The Compassionate Care Center, the world's first veterinary referral hospital to allow human owners to stay with their pets overnight. Founded in 2002, the Centers represented Dr. Levitan's vision to build a model hospital that would encompass all aspects of advanced veterinary medicine, including 24-hour emergency care as well as address the intellectual and emotional needs of pet owners. After selling the Center, Dr. Levitan began Helping Promote Animal Welfare, Inc (Helping PAW)- a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt public charity. Helping PAW is dedicated to ending pet overpopulation through education of the public and by providing high volume, high quality, targeted, affordable sterilization services of unowned and companion animals and to subsidize care for animals whose owners are on government assistance. After 2 years without client patient relationships, Dr. Levitan decided it was time to practice full service medicine again, and in June of 2010, she purchased American Animal Hospital and transformed it into what it is now, Peace Love Pets Veterinary Care.

Jennifer Baillie is a native New Yorker that grew up on the south shore of Long Island. She completed her undergraduate degree at Stony Brook University and pursued her dream career studying on the sandy shores of Saint Kitts and Nevis, at the accredited Ross University. During her stay on "de Island" she was an active member of their feral cat TNR program, and helped care for the exotic animals at the town's local Zoo. She even spent time in Central America to provide free veterinary care and sterilization to much needed families.
She completed her clinical year at Louisiana State University, and acquired quite the palate for southern cooking. During one her elective externships she met Dr. Levitan, owner of the wonderful Peace Love Pets veterinary practice, and fell in love with the compassion and quality of medicine practiced there. After graduation, she joined their team for a brief stent before heading into New York City for a year internship at the prestigious Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners Emergency and Specialty center. There she immersed herself in emergency medicine and worked alongside multiple veterinary specialists to sharpen her technical skills and learn cutting edge treatment options. Upon completion she was honored to be offered a full time position with Dr. Levitan and her team, continuing her mentorship with great and knowledgeable colleagues.
On her off time, Jennifer is an enthusiastic baker and cook, often times using it as a stress reducer. She also is a member of Helping PAW, where you will find her spaying and neutering feral cats at the town of North Hempstead shelter.
